Department of Journalism was established on February 1, 2010. Developments in communication technologies require for practitioners who are intellectually equipped and are able to integrate his/her intellectual background with his/her practical information. In this regard, communication faculties play an important role in training those practitioners. With its sense of responsibility, Department of Journalism aims to train journalists and media professionals who internalize press codes and universal values, and have critical thinking skills.
Along with specializing in journalism, Department of Journalism embraces an interdisciplinary approach in education, which is in line with other disciplines such as public relations and publicity, radio, television and cinema, philosophy, political science and law. Curriculum of the department has been arranged in line with theory and practice. In theoretical level, it is aimed to help students to acquire the basic concepts in communication sciences and journalism and to give insight into the historical processes of communication systems, fundamental principles of the profession and ethical values. Moreover, our faculty has Photography Lab, Radio Studio, Mac Lab and News Center. With this technical infrastructure, students started to publish a newspaper titled “Genç İfade” in 2014- 2015 academic year. Department of Journalism consists of one Associate Professor, three Assistant Professors, three Research Assistants, one Dr. Research Assistant and one lecturer.
